NURSING CONSIDERATIONS:
- Teach about orthostatic hypotension management
- Inform patient to notify health care provider if persistent low blood pressure or rapid heart rate occurs
- Inform to take Tofranil at bedtime - minimize sedation issues
- No smoking or alcohol consumption
- Therapy continues for a minimum of 6 months
- DO NOT abruptly stop taking medication
- Risk of suicide - monitor patient for mood changes or unusual behavior
